Welcome To The Reframe & Reset Your Career Newsletter
Introduction to Reframe & Reset Your Career and the future content
Thank you so much for reading the first Reframe & Reset Your Career newsletter. My name is Harsha Boralessa and I am the founder/ host of the Reframe & Reset Your Career podcast and YouTube channel. They were inspired by my passion for neuroscience and psychology and their intersection with career and personal development.
I have been fortunate for the podcast to be included in Apple Podcasts Career Moves, Mac's List Top Career Podcasts 2023 & 2022 and the best 25 UK Career Podcasts & 100 best Career Podcasts by Feedspot. The podcast is available on Apple, Spotify, Google, Podbean and most other major platforms.
What Will I Write About?
I will be writing about all things relating to job search and career development, including promotion, leadership, networking, mindset, communication and much more. I enjoy writing and one of the reasons for starting the newsletter is to write more, improve my style and hopefully assist me on the journey to writing a book.
I will be sharing insights from the recognised experts who appear on the podcast and YouTube channel. The aim is to inspire the reader to be more strategic and take greater control and ownership of their career development.
Why I Started Reframe & Reset Your Career?
The video below is a brief overview of why I started Reframe & Reset Your Career, it was recorded during COVID lockdown and I had not been able to get a haircut for a while :)!
A Bit About Me
My professional background is in finance and I have worked for over 15 years in front office and advisory roles in investment banking and two of the "Big 4" accounting firms. I am a CFA charterholder, chartered accountant and graduated from the London School of Economics.
I became interested in performance development through playing cricket for the junior teams of Middlesex and Essex, two of the top professional teams in England, from the age of 10 to 19. I was paid to play in one match for the Essex second team so technically I am a "professional athlete" with a very short career!
I was lucky to play with and against a number of players who played international cricket for England and surprisingly New Zealand. I was able to see what it took to make it at the highest level and learned a number of important lessons, which helped me in my professional life such as self discipline, resilience and managing failure, self confidence, teamwork and gratitude.
Outside work, I enjoy cinema, reading and love listening to all kinds of music from pop to classical!
Latest Podcast Episode - Matt Abrahams
The latest interview (Episode 62) is with Matt Abrahams, a leading expert in communication with decades of experience as an educator, author, podcast host, and coach. Matt and I talked about the importance of being able to communicate your story to your interviewer so it is easy for them to share this with the ultimate decision maker. He told me "The bottom line is this, when you are interviewing you are equipping your interviewer to tell your story to someone else. Most of the time, the person we interview with is not the person empowered to hire you on the spot. They have to get approval, they have to get a consensus so they need to discuss you with somebody else. So the better you equip them by having clear themes and having support and evidence that they can bring that helps."
The full podcast interview is available on Apple, Spotify, Google, Podbean and most other major platforms, please look for Episode 62.
From The Back Catalogue - Dr Christian Busch
Christian is the author of "The Serendipity Mindset", now updated and called "Connect The Dots". He is a business professor at USC Marshall and a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics. I first came across him when I saw one of his talks during lockdown, we connected on LinkedIn and he eventually became the first guest to commit to being on the podcast even before I had a name or logo. Thanks Christian for your support from the outset and for a terrific interview!
The full podcast interview is available on Apple, Spotify, Google, Podbean and most other major platforms, please look for Episode 2.
